Do I need the door sensor when using the Smart Lock (Pro)?
No, you can use your new Smart Lock (Pro) without this feature. However, the door sensor has the advantage of showing you the status of your door (door open/closed) at any time. You can also choose to have the status displayed in the activity log. You will also be notified via the Nuki app if you try to lock your door when it’s open. It is set up and managed via the administration area in your Nuki app. -
How do I install the Nuki Door Sensor and set it up?
The Nuki Door Sensor consists of a magnet and a magnetic sensor. This sensor makes it possible to reliably detect the status of the door (open/closed). The magnetic sensor is affixed to the door frame on the interior side of your front door. The magnet is attached to the door. The set-up (activation/calibration) is carried out through the Nuki app. Simply follow the instructions.
You can also view the status of your door sensor via Nuki Web. However, the door sensor can only be set up using the Nuki app, because you have to be within Bluetooth range of your Smart Lock (Pro). -
How is the door sensor status displayed in the Nuki app?
In addition to the usual screens for “unlocked” or “locked”, the status “door open” is now also displayed with a dedicated icon in the Nuki app. As soon as you’ve activated the sensor for your Smart Lock (Pro), the door status (open, closed or door sensor faulty) will also be displayed. The new Nuki Door Sensor features some major improvements over its predecessor. The new technology ensures a high level of reliability with minimal battery consumption. The Nuki Door Sensor has flexible installation options and is supported by the Nuki app. The door sensor is available in white, meaning it can be discreetly attached to your door frame.
The Nuki Door Sensor also offers manipulation detection through its tamper sensor. This means you know whether the sensor has been tampered with by third parties. As soon as the Nuki Door Sensor is no longer attached to the door, this is registered by the manipulation detection system and communicated to your Smart Lock. You will of course receive a notification if the door sensor has been removed.
